» Feature Writer Jo Murphy - Don't get discouraged

Sometimes I think we just get discouraged. There are so many people out there looking for jobs - that - we can't always expect to get a job straight up.
I have a variety of jobs. I am a contractor. I guess I put in about five times more bids, expressions of interest and applications for contract positions than I actually score.
Because I score enough to be extremely busy and never without work, I can be very nurturing of myself and rest assured that when I don't land work it is not necessarily about me. It can be about right fit.
You might be fantastic - but still not quite what the prospective employer is looking for. That is not a statment about you - It is just a statement about what they were looking for.

Paym is right. If you are completely comfortable with who you are and present yourself at your best in your own way it nips communication blunders in the bud.

Presenting your self one way at an interview and then really being diffferent when you get the job will cause stress later.

One of "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz says "Don't Take Anything Personally" !
I'll bet you have a job by now as it sounds as though you stick at it,
Jo

You said it beautifully, Jo! We cannot take it personally nor be discouraged!
Your quote from that book sounds good too!
Have a great Easter!
